Nebel

George R. Nebel, 90, of Bonniebrook Road, Butler, died early Saturday at his home.

Born Sept. 17, 1919, in Butler, he was a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Schreiner Nebel.

George, along with his brother Ralph, owned and operated Joseph Nebel Sons Water Well Drilling in Herman from 1934 until his retirement in 1982, but he continued to help with the family business part-time for many more years.

He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman and a charter member of the Herman Volunteer Fire Department.

George was a good baseball player as a young man, and both he and his brother tried out for the St. Louis Cardinals.

His wife, Mary Tomsey Nebel, to whom he was married May 30, 1950, preceded him in death April 4, 1999. A daughter, two brothers and a sister also preceded him.

Surviving are his son and his wife, Darrell G. and Cindy Nebel of Cabot; four daughters and their husbands, Darlene M. and Charles Cantu of San Antonio, Texas, Georgia A. and James Biber of Valencia, Jacqueline S. and Paul Posluszny of Hopewell Township, and Christine M. Nebel of Pittsburgh; a brother, Ralph M. Nebel and his wife, Marg, of Butler; a sister, Mrs. Leona Coyle of Cabot; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

<B>NEBEL</B> — Friends of George R. Nebel, who died Saturday, July 17, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman with Father Ward Stakem, OSF, Cap., pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.The family asks memorial donations be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 821 Herman Road, Butler, PA 16002.
