Bids for vo-tech expansion, renovation come in under budget

BUTLER TWP — The Butler County Vo-Tech is saving more than 10 percent on its new addition.

The school estimated the addition would cost $11 million, but the bids ended up being $9.3 million.

The vo-tech board awarded those bids Thursday night.

The project will update existing school space and add new space.

A large addition on the north side of the school property will be for the relocated heavy equipment repair program. Also, an addition will be built on the west side of the vo-tech building for classroom and office space, and a two- story addition will be added to the existing two-story building with the cosmetology department to be on the first floor and part of the culinary arts department on the ground floor.

The project will renovate 85,000 square feet of existing space and add 31,000 square feet in new space.
