LOWER BURRELL — Emergency officials say two people were found dead after a police officer spotted motorcycle wreckage on a rural highway.

Police in Lower Burrell say an officer found the wreckage about 3 a.m. Monday on Route 780, about 25 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. While investigating, the officer found a dead man in the yard of a nearby home and a woman's body in a grassy area nearby.

The Westmoreland County Coroner did not immediately identify the victims

ERIE — The U.S. Coast Guard says four people were rescued after their canoe became stranded in Lake Erie.Emergency dispatchers in Erie got a call about 1:15 a.m. today that the canoe could not get back to shore at Raccoon Park in North Springfield Township near Erie.The Coast Guard and volunteers from local fire departments rescued those aboard.

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police are looking for people involved in a shootout that wounded three people, one critically, on a pedestrian bridge near a youth football game.None of the children playing football nor any spectators at Stargell Field were hurt in the shooting about 3:45 p.m. Sunday.Police say the shooting happened on a bridge over the Martin Luther King Jr. East Busway, a short distance from the field. Police and witnesses say about 20 shots were fired.
