June Viola Wimer

June Viola Wimer, 89, of Portersville died at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Avalon Nursing Center, New Castle.

Born in Franklin Township, Beaver County, June 15, 1921, she was the daughter of Floyd Wellington Book and Alice Lillian Myers.

She married Loyal Fayette Wimer on Feb. 7, 1940. He died June 1, 1981.

Mrs. Wimer was a member of the Harlansburg Presbyterian Church.

She was a 1939 graduate of Harlansburg High School.

She and her husband owned and operated the Ridgeview Restaurant and Service Station on Route 19 near Portersville. She also was secretary for Muddy Creek Township for more than 35 years.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, working with flowers, quilting and baking.

Surviving are three daughters, Judith A. McDaniel of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., Patricia J. and her husband, Richard Deinert of New Castle and Sally J. and her husband, Jack Watson of Grove City; a son, Loyal "Bud" Fayette Wimer Jr. of Portersville; a sister, Grace Sharrar of Evans City; and a brother, Paul Book of Boyers. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence Robert "Bob" Book, William Book and Harold "Hap" Book.

<B>WIMER</B> — Visitation for June Viola Wimer, who died Tuesday, July 13, 2010, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Mount Herman Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to the Harlansburg Presbyterian Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
