Bozo the Funny Clown, played by Matthew Hooks, and Juggles the Juggler, played by Krista Fennell, clown around in Freeport Theatre Festival's family friendly comedy, "Bertha & Bailey's Circus," opening Friday and continuing through Aug. 29. The show starts at 8 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

LEECHBURG — "Bertha & Bailey's Circus," a playful piece of musical theater and clown comedy, will somersault into the Freeport Theatre Festival on Aug. 13.

Written by Rennick Steele and Chloe Marin, the show tells the story of Wing Ding (Phil Powell of Cranberry Township) and Bozo (Matthew Hooks of Allegheny Township) who are clowns and brothers.

Bozo is a spinning top of "funny" energy and one of the main attractions in Bertha & Bailey's Circus.

Wing Ding, no longer with the circus, is a stumbling block of "unfunny" energy who, with the duplicitous assistance of Manny the Elephant Cage Cleaner (Courtney Riffer), plots with devious and deranged delight the fall and ruin of Bertha and Bailey's Circus.

Other cast members include Tom Abbott, Sharon Riffer, Natalie Falise, Ali Kough, Rennick Steele, Christopher Vertosick, Jonathan Vertosick, Krista Fennell, Kira Rall, Marushka Steele and Lori Barrage.

The show is directed by Rennick Steele.

Performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Aug. 13 to 29.

The Spotlight Gallery will feature the paintings by Paul M. Lutz and wood sculpture by D.J. Wicks.
