DES MOINES, Iowa — Authorities say one person remains missing after three cars were swept away in raging floodwaters in a storm-swollen creek in central Iowa.

Polk County spokesman A.J. Munn said 11 people were in the cars that were washed away about 10 miles northeast of Des Moines, and that 10 of them have been accounted for this morning.

Munn said it could be hours before the fast-moving water is safe enough for divers to resume their search.

He said the sheriff's office used a global positioning system to track a 911 call from someone in one of the cars about 4 a.m., and sent rescue crews to the scene.
