CADOGAN — State police say a man told them he was drunk when he broke into a tiny rural church and vandalized it.

Officials at the Cadogan Union Church say they hope to have the damage fixed in time for Sunday services.

Police say 21-year-old Korey Daugherty told them he was drunk when he broke into the church July 29. He was arrested Wednesday and charged with burglary and vandalizing a place of worship.

Church officials say he sprayed a fire extinguisher, let water overflow from two bathroom sinks he plugged up, dumped salad dressing on the floor and defecated in the building. Damage was estimate at about $10,000.

NEW CASTLE — A man is scheduled for a hearing on child endangerment and other charges because his 14-year-old son told police the man forced his 13-year-old daughter to smoke marijuana.Police say the boy took his sister to a relative's house July 27 to get away from their father, and that relative called police. Police say they searched the man's residence and found marijuana.Forty-six-year-old David Stewart, of Union Township, Lawrence County, has been jailed since Saturday and faces a hearing Friday.He's also charged with distributing a controlled substance to a minor, corruption of minors, and other crimes. Online court records do not list an attorney for Stewart.

FAWN GROVE — Police say a central Pennsylvania man has admitted fatally shooting his brother during an argument then partially dismembering his body.State police in York County say 21-year-old Justin Carbaugh killed his brother, Brandon, on Wednesday and cut off his fingers and part of his leg.Investigators say Justin Carbaugh confessed when troopers were called to the house Thursday.According to a police affidavit, the suspect said the brothers had quarreled and Brandon Carbaugh put his hand on his own weapon, prompting Justin Carbaugh to draw and fire.Police say Justin Carbaugh shot his brother three times before retrieving an ax, hedge trimmer and safety glasses to dismember the body.
