Raymond C. Knight, 82, of 435 Twentier Lane, Portersville, Perry Township, passed away peacefully at the Jameson Hospital in New Castle at 11:15 p.m. Thursday.

He was born in Zelienople on March 27, 1928, to the late Thomas Knight and the late Ida Nye Knight Eicholz.

He attended Portersville schools, and he worked as a truck driver and tipple operator at the Kerry Coal Co. in Portersville for many years.

Raymond was an avid hunter.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Mary Grace Hulick Knight, who died July 23, 2000, and by a son, Mark Allen Knight, who died May 30 1981.

The last of his family, he also was preceded by five brothers and three sisters, Gad Baxter, William Mathes, Chuck Mathes, Thomas Knight, Elizabeth Groves, Effie May Kane, Forrest Knight, and Leora McMurdy.

He is survived by a daughter, Debbie Knight, of Portersville; a son, Ronald G. Knight of North Carolina; a granddaughter, Nicole Jack; and two great-grandsons.
