Hayden

Elizabeth (Nagy) Hayden of Crestview Drive, Sharpsville, Mercer County, passed away at 2:03 a.m. Friday in the hospital of the Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness. She was 85.

Mrs. Hayden was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Ridgeville, a daughter of the late August and Mary Nagy.

Following her graduation from Hooker High School, she worked at Butler Memorial Hospital, made Army clothes at the Spaid Shirt Factory in Butler, and then made shells during World War II at the Pullman Standard Shell Shop.

She married Joseph G. Hayden on May 18, 1946, at St. Pascal's Church in Argentine and lived in West Sunbury for 20 years before moving to the Sharon area in 1966.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Church in Sharon.

Mrs. Hayden was an avid golfer and a member of the former Sharon Country Club. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren, who she loved dearly.

Surviving are her husband, Joseph G. Hayden at home; a daughter, Debra M. McElhaney and her husband, S. Dean McElhaney, of Jamestown, Mercer County; a son, J. Greer Hayden and his wife, Sally, of Sharon; four grandchildren, Jered McElhaney and his wife, Tennille, Danielle McElhaney, Jenna Hayden-Freas and her husband, Brian, and Erin Hayden; and two great grandchildren, Christian and Karis McElhaney.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Hayes, and four brothers, August, James, Lester and Ernest Nagy.

<B>HAYDEN</B> — Calling hours for Elizabeth Hayden who died Friday, July 2, 2010, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at<B> J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home</B>, 1090 E. State St., Sharon. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph Church, Sharon, with the Rev. Glenn R. Whitman, pastor, as celebrant.
