ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Two Pittsburgh-area brothers were sentenced to long federal prison terms for leading an organization that brought tons of marijuana across the country through Illinois and along the Interstate 80 corridor to Pennsylvania, where it was sold.

A federal judge in Rock Island, Ill., Tuesday sentenced Noah Landfried, 26, to life in prison, and his brother, Ross Landfried III, 28, to 20 years. The brothers are from Moon Township.

Federal prosecutors in Illinois say the brothers used couriers in privately owned cars to move more than 5,000 pounds of Mexican marijuana from Arizona to Pennsylvania from 2002 to 2009. Each courier carried about 200 pounds of the drug.

APOLLO — State police charged a baby-sitting aunt and her boyfriend with endangering a 2-year-old boy found wandering on a street.State police in Kittanning filed charges of reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child against Tara Jo Frain, 25, and Danny Alexander, 37.Both are from Apollo, where police say Frain's nephew was found wandering on a street about 6:30 a.m. Monday.
