Hartman

Albert K. Hartman passed away June 4 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., following recent years of declining health.

He was born in Shippenville, Clarion County, Nov. 8, 1926, to Earl I. Hartman and Ethel (Ion) Hartman.

He married Jean E. (Ohnsman) on Nov. 4, 1946.

He was a machinist by trade at Daman Industries in East Brady for 25 years, and he finished his career as plant superintendent at the General Electric Plant in Charleston, W.Va. He was named General Electric "Man of the Year" in 1978.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a lifelong member of the Methodist church.

He was an avid golfer.

He retired to Brookville, Jefferson County, in 1990 and then moved to Myrtle Beach, S.C., in 2002.

He is survived by five children, Susan D. Hartman of Valencia, Kenneth E. Hartman of Butler, Joye A. Shumaker of Petrolia, Jeffrey D. Hartman of Seville, Ohio, and Kimberly J. McDonald of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He also is survived by his beloved sister, Esther P. (Reott) Russell of Knox, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, both parents, two brothers and a sister.

<B>HARTMAN</B> — A memorial service for Albert K. Hartman, who died Friday, June 4, 2010, will be held at 2 p.m. July 10 at First United Methodist Church, 2 miles north of the Clearview Mall, Route 8 North, Butler, the former Friedman's building.
