Renovation work will soon resume on the Pittsburgh Hilton.

Frank Amedia heads TC Solutions of Miami, the construction management company that is taking over the project. He expects work to begin Monday and for the renovations to be finished sometime later next year. Workers walked off the $25 million job in May 2009 after contractor P.J. Dick said the Hilton's owner, Shubh Hotels, stopped paying for the work. Shubh has been restructuring its finances.

The Hilton's 700 rooms make it the city's largest hotel. It's also the most visible to motorists who enter the city through the Fort Pitt Tunnel, where steel beams have been visible for 14 months.

Pittsburgh City Council passed a police reform bill after its sponsor agreed the legislation would no longer be named for an alleged victim of police brutality.Eighteen-year-old Jordan Miles, a student at a performing arts high school in the city, has accused three white officers of beating him without reason Jan. 12. Miles, who is black, claims the officers assumed he was a troublemaker because of his race.Investigations of the incident are ongoing.
