Terry Lee Boyer, 59, of Prospect was suddenly called home Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital to the Lord. He died from complications of diabetes.

He was born Aug. 24, 1950, in Somerset, Somerset County, the son of Wayne R. and Frances Lucille Hetrick Boyer.

He was a member of Mt. Chestnut Presbyterian Church; the American Legion in Jeannette, Westmoreland County; the VFW Post 249 in Butler, and the National Rifle Association.

He graduated from Somerset High School and from Penn State University, where he became a piping designer.

He worked on the nuclear powered vessels of the Armed Services and The Beaver Valley 2 nuclear power plant. He was involved with the revitalization of The U.S. Steel Clairton Coke Works and designed the piping for a new steel mill for OK Steel/Mid American Steel Corp. He also was a school bus driver for the Slippery Rock School District for a few years.

He was a proud American veteran having served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed spending his summers working in the garden and his winters hunting and planning next year's garden. He was an avid Steelers fan and NASCAR enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife, Christina Gene Mullen Boyer, who he married Aug. 29, 1981; one daughter, Sara Gene Boyer of Greensburg, Westmoreland County; and two sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Teresa) Garstecki of Stahlstown, Westmoreland County, and Mrs. Ron (Sally) Lottig of Boynton Beach, Fla. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

<B>BOYER</B> — Visitation for Terry Lee Boyer, who died Friday, June 25, 2010, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at <B>Jay Bryan Funeral Home</B> in Prospect. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Mt. Chestnut Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jeffrey Curtis officiating. Burial will be private.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Mt.
