Amanda Lin Mitchell
Amanda Lin Mitchell, 18, of Scottdale died at 7:20 a.m. Tuesday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital due to an automobile accident.
Born March 9, 1992, in the North Hills of Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Phyllis Gifford Mitchell of Scottdale and the late Michael J. Mitchell, who died Oct. 6, 1998.
Amanda was a devoted daughter and granddaughter who recently graduated from Southmoreland High School with the Class of 2010 where she played volleyball. She worked as a greeter at Eat 'n Park Restaurant in New Stanton and as a waitress at Chuck House Grill in Hunker.
Amanda was baptized and received First Holy Communion at Saint Ferdinand in Cranberry Township and attended Haine Elementary and Saint Gregory School. She enjoyed her friends, bonfires and computers.
Amanda will be sadly missed by her loving family; her mother, Phyllis Gifford Mitchell of Scottdale; her maternal grandmother, Marjorie E. Gifford of Cranberry Township; her paternal grandmother, Mary Lou Schadel and her paternal stepgrandfather, Willis Schadel of the North Hills; her godmother, Lydia Gifford; her godfather, Samuel Caldwell; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and her special dog, Toby.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Bruce Gifford and her paternal grandfather, John Mitchell.
<B>MITCHELL</B> — Friends of Amanda Lin Mitchell, who died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of the <B>Robert B. Ferguson Funeral Home</B>, 105 Spring St., Scottdale.A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Scottdale, with the Rev.
