Mary Michaels Bunn
Mary Michaels Bunn, 91, of Layton Drive in Butler, formerly of Irene Drive, died Thursday at VA Butler Healthcare.
She was born Jan. 20, 1919, in Lyndora, a daughter of the late Tony and Hapse Moses Michaels.
Mary was a veteran of the Women's Army Corps during World War II and served in the Army Air Corps.
Mrs. Bunn was the secretary for the chief of medical administration at the VA Butler Healthcare. She retired in 1976 following 30 years of federal service, and she was a member of NARFE, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Mary was a member of the St. Anthony Orthodox Church in Butler and of the Women's Guild at her church.
Her husband, Chester E. Bunn, who she married Aug. 7, 1954, preceded her in death on July 8, 1997.
Surviving are one brother, Andy Michaels of Butler; and her niece, Shelley Michaels and children, with whom she lived. Several other nieces and nephews and her faithful cockatiel, JJ, also survive her.
Five brothers, one sister and a grandnephew preceded her in death.
<B>BUNN</B> — Friends of Mary Michaels Bunn, who died Thursday, June 10, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Antiochian Orthodox Church with Father Gregory Long, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at the North Side Cemetery.
