H. Blaine Shidemantle, 83, of Harmony died Tuesday at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Born March 3, 1927, in Portersville, he was the son of Samuel and Grace (Graham) Shidemantle.

Mr. Shidemantle was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran who served on the USS Little Rock.

He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Harmony, the Zelienople American Legion and the Harmony Lodge 429 F&AM. Mr. Shidemantle also was a life member of the Evans City VFW and the Harmony Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his son, Donald B. Shidemantle and his wife, Terri, of Harmony; two grandchildren, Kassandra and Zachary Shidemantle; and two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Jax Pollock. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Helen Schott and Doris Schott, both of Harmony.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. (Schott) Shidemantle, who died Feb. 26, 2009; and three brothers, Mervin, John and Clair Shidemantle.

<B>SHIDEMANTLE</B> — Friends of H. Blaine Shidemantle, who died Tuesday, June 8, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Zion Lutheran Church, 557 Perry Highway/Route 19, Harmony. Visitation also will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
