Earl C. Barto, 88, of Davie, Fla., passed away May 30 at his home in Davie.

Born Jan. 15, 1922, in Mars, he was the son of the late Clyde and Grace Barto of Mars.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Mars for a number of years before moving to Florida 40 years ago.

He was self employed most of his life as an all-around handyman, but also worked for the Combination Window Co., Crucible Steel and in maintenance at a hotel in Florida.

He enjoyed being a Scoutmaster years ago and spending time with all his family that he loved very much.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Lipp Barto, whom he married Sept. 18, 1943; a son, David "Hoot" Barto and his wife, Judy Keil Barto, of Davie; a daughter, Carol Ritchey Snyder and her husband, Frank Snyder, of Rochester, Pa.; and a daughter, Pam Kier Ogle and her husband, Kevin Ogle, of Pembrook Pines, Fla.

He was the grandfather of Robin Ritchey-Roy and Everett Roy of Saxonburg, Dana Ritchey-Muth and Ray Muth of Saxonburg, Amy Kier Reinhart and Greg Reinhart of Cranberry Township, Leah Ogle Sessa and Sam Sessa of Davie and Dan Ogle of Pembrook Pines, Fla. He had nine great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a sister, Velma Jean Barto Miller of Paradise, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Helen Barto Weyman Valecic of Zelienople, Dorothy Barto Winrick of Pittsburgh, Chester Barto of Mesa, Ariz. and Alberta Measel of Mars.

<B>BARTO </B>— Earl C. Barto, who died Sunday, May 30, 2010, was cremated, and his ashes will be returned to Plains Church Cemetery, Cranberry Township.
