A free Outdoor Discover series, hosted by the Butler County Parks and Recreation department, takes place Thursdays at Alameda Park.

The free programs begin at 7 p.m.

Upcoming events in the series include:

• Birds of Prey, tonight in the Carousel Shelter.

Master falconer Earl Shriver of Baden conducts an hour-long presentation on birds of prey. He uses live birds throughout his presentation including a hawk, an eagle and a falcon.

• That Guy with the Birds, July 15 in the Carousel Shelter.

John Lege and his parrots present a program featuring music-magic, educational facts and audience participation.

• The Magic of Kevin Cramer, July 22 in the Carousel Shelter.

Magician Kevin Cramer presents an evening of tricks and illusions.

• Playthings Etc., July 29 in the Masonic Shelter.

The Playthings Etc. staff demonstrates new toys in this hands-on program.

• ATA Martial Arts, Aug. 5 in the Masonic Shelter.

Kicks, punches and board breaking are part of Master Connell's ATA Martial Arts demonstration of taekwondo and self-defense. Audience members can participate.

• Barn Owls Program, Aug. 12 in the Carousel Shelter.

The Moraine Preservation Fund, a volunteer organization, hosts a presentation about the barn owl reintroduction program.
