Smith

Marian A. Smith, 84, a resident of 236½ Grant St., Franklin, died peacefully at 11:25 a.m. Friday in The Caring Place of Franklin following a brief illness.

Born May 12, 1926, in Butler, she was a beloved daughter of the late Stratos and Lida Shaffer Kontos.

She attended Butler area schools and graduated in 1945 from Butler High School.

Mrs. Smith was a devoted and caring homemaker for her family and a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, who cherished the quality time she was able to share with them.

As her health permitted, she had volunteered her time for a number of years assisting the residents of the St. Barnabas Home in Gibsonia.

She was an active and faithful member of St. John's Episcopal Church of Franklin, where she was involved for many years as a member of the Order of the Daughters of The King.

She was married in 1946 to Ernest Williams, who preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 1956. On Sept. 28, 1958, she was married in Winchester, Va., to Ronald Smith Sr., who survives.

In addition to her husband of 51 years, she is survived by her sons, Roger D. Williams and his wife, Cindy, Ronald Smith Jr. and his wife, Brenda, and Jeffrey B. Smith, all of Franklin; nine grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Kontos.

The Burial Office will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church with the Rev. Holly A. Davis, rector, officiating.
