Forge mulls building store near Prime Outlets

SPRINGFIELD TWP, Mercer County — Wendell August Forge is considering buying six acres off Route 208 to build a permanent flagship store, the company announced today.

The site borders the Prime Outlets, and is directly behind the Elephant & Castle restaurant, near the Interstate 79 interchange.

Wendell August Forge has signed a six-month option agreement with the landowners, which will allow the company to determine if the site can accommodate the estimated 35,000 to 40,000 square foot facility it hopes to build there.

The structure could house a retail store, metal workshop, distribution division, history center and 3,000 to 5,000 feet of office space on the second floor.

The company had initially hoped to rebuild the store on Madison Avenue in Grove City that was destroyed by a fire March 6, but could not due to acreage restrictions.
