While health care reform is needed,the majority of Americans do not want the health care bill that was rammed through congress. It does contain good points such as insurance companies required to provide coverage of preexisting conditions. However most of the provisions do nothing to limit or contain health care costs.

Two provisions not included that would have lowered costs are:(1) allow for health care providers to provide their services across state lines thus providing competition. (2) Tort reform that would limit malpractice payouts.

Other features that most Americans do not wish to see are:(1)forces everyone to buy insurance or pay a penalty(2)penalizes companies that do not provide insurance for employees(the penalty is less than providing coverage, so guess what the companies will do)

Raises Medicare taxes 2.9% on things such as dividends and rent for those making over $200,000(income redistribution)

The plan will cost $950,000,000,000 over 10 years to insure about 31,000,000 people currently uninsured. We currently have a public option for poorer people(Medicaid and Medicare). This plan was supposed to bring health care costs down, but it is impossible to insure 31,000,000 more people and have LOWER costs than we currently do.

With the economy sinking and our national debt rising, this almost one trillion dollar additional debt hardly seems like the best alternative.

I am hardly an expert in this area, but common sense and logic seem to indicate that the new health care reform does little to reform and certainly raises costs and our national debt.
