Elmer R. Bailey

Elmer R. Bailey, 75, of East Brady died Wednesday in Clarion Hospital in Clarion.

Born Dec. 15, 1934, in East Brady, he was the son of Floyd E. and Myrtle Rhodabarger Bailey.

Mr. Bailey was a 1952 graduate of East Brady High School and a 1956 graduate of Allegheny College in Meadville. He earned a master's degree from Indiana State College in Indiana, Pa. He was a motivational speaker for the ARD and DUI First Offender Program in Clarion after his son, Sean, was killed by a drunken driver.

He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed computer work.

Mr. Bailey taught at West Middlesex High School for one year and then at East Brady High School for more than 30 years. He also was a computer specialist for Dr. Eugene L. Gould, O.D., in Kittanning for 12 years.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in East Brady.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie E. Stevens Bailey of East Brady, who he married Sept. 21, 1956; a son, David R. Bailey of Dillsburg; a daughter, Stacey Slaughenhoupt of Karns City; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Sean L. Bailey; a half-sister, Kathryn Verner; and a granddaughter.

<B>BAILEY — </B>Friends of Elmer R. Bailey, who died Wednesday, June 2, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>CHARLES B. BUECHELE FUNERAL HOME,</B> 105 Fourth St., East Brady. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Russell, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Eusebius Cemetery, Brady Township, Clarion County.Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 495, East Brady, PA 16028.
