Old face pulls into victory
BUFFALO TWP — For most of Friday night's Sprint feature at Lernerville Speedway, it appeared as though a new face would be pulling into victory lane.
In the end, the winner was as familiar as they come.
Apollo's Ed Lynch Jr. won his heat race, but found himself near the back of the pack early in the 25-lap feature.
By the ninth lap, the 'Apollo Rocket' had moved into the top five.
On lap 23, he passed Scott Priester on the back straightaway and wound up winning by a comfortable margin.
Lynch's only obstacle in the final moments was the lap traffic he ran into.
Lynch entered Friday fourth in the Sprint points standings with 238 and gained on leader Rod George, who left the feature after a wreck on the sixth lap.
"You had to work for it tonight," said Lynch. "The track was very smooth. I have a low tire, but I think that actually helped me."
It was Lynch's second win of the season. He also won here June 18.
Priester, from Rimersburg, was searching for his first win of the season and led the race during laps 2-17 and 21-22 before being passed.
He finished second and Danny Holtgraver was third.
Also winning Sprint heat races were Matt Reed and George
