FRANKLIN TWP, Beaver County — The Red Barn Players second show of the season will be the comedy "The Butler Did It," which will run for nine performances starting July 9.

Performances are set for 8 p.m. July 9 and 10, 15 to 17, and 21 to 24 at the Red Barn Theatre on Route 228, the Ellwood-Zelienople Road.

This spoof of English mysteries finds Miss Maple, a society dowager noted for her imaginative weekend parties, awaiting a group of detective writers invited to eerie Ravenswood Manor, where they are to assume the personalities of their fictional characters.

Miss Maple has arranged all sorts of scary, amusing incidents. Then a real murder takes place and the guests realize they're all marked for death. When they're not busy tripping over the clues, the zany sleuths trip over one another in this spiny mystery with a generous injection of wild humor.

The Red Barn Players last presented this comedy in 1983.

The cast includes: Pete Kucan, Suzanne Sankey and Tammy Erkman, all of Ellwood City; Tom Mirth of Glenshaw; John Brenner of Beaver Falls; Bill Zeiger, Karen Kern, Amy Isler and Larry Baker, all of New Castle, and Carolee Kamensky of Baden.

The show, written by Tim Kelly, is being directed by Hazel Zimmerman of New Brighton.
