Lawrence Co. teen shot accidentally after friends find gun
LAWRENCE COUNTY — State police said a 14-year-old boy was shot in the head this morning after he found a gun with some friends.
Police and emergency dispatchers say the incident happened about 3 a.m. in Hickory Township, which is not far from the Ohio border. The boy was taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, but his name and condition have not been released.
A police official reported the boys found the gun and that it apparently fired accidentally, wounding one boy. Police and dispatchers have variously described the area where it happened as a residence or a hunting camp.
A police official at the New Castle barracks refused to provide further details or clarification.
