Freeport teachers, school board to vote on new contract

BUFFALO TWP — The teachers in the Freeport School District are expected to learn the details today of a new contract with the district.

Both the 141 teachers and the Freeport School Board will vote Wednesday on the proposed contract.

After their meeting today, the teachers will wait the required 48 hours, and then they are expected to vote Wednesday on that contract.

The school board scheduled a meeting at 7:30 p.m. that day at the senior high school to vote on the same issue, said district spokesman Todd O'Shell this morning.

Board president Mark Shoaf said through O'Shell that the board would not release any details of the agreement before the vote, but that he hopes both sides will come to an agreement.

The contract would replace a five-year deal that expires Aug. 22.
