PITTSBURGH — Ryan Prokay of Grove City carded a 76 at the West Penn Amateur Qualifier at Shannopin Country Club Friday.

Prokay was one of 13 qualifiers, led by Nicolas Milito of Jeannette, who finished first with a round of 69.

Four alternates also were named in the 39-golfer event.

Joe Rukas of Sarver, who carded an 80, and Shawn Courson of Parker (83) did not qualify.

GROVE CITY — John Aubrey Sr. of Aubrey's Dubbs Dred was one of four alternates named at the U.S. Senior Open Sectional Qualifier, which was held Friday at Grove City Country Club.Aubrey's score of 70 tied three others for second place while Ned Weaver of New Castle recorded a 69 to win the qualifier.Pat Forese of Grove City (78) and did not qualify.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University track and field athletes Jen Hansen and Jen Harpp were named ESPN the Magazine Academic All-Americans for the second time.Hansen received first-team honors and Harpp made the second team.
