Dizzy Woosh cuts 2nd CD

Members of the band Dizzy Woosh are, clockwise from bottom left, Brad Arnold, Eric Bowman, Johnny Lager, Mike Sheptak, Dan Bischak and Chance Turner.

"We all had ideas," accordion player and vocalist Chance Turner said about he and his bandmates naming the group that is Dizzy Woosh.

At the very moment they were about to vote for one of a myriad of other choices, someone said, "Hey, what about that name Dizzy Woosh we talked about before?"

They had compiled a list of about 40 names but had forgotten about Dizzy Woosh.

"That was a three-month-long debate," Turner said. "We took it very seriously ... it's something that's gonna stick with you."

He said the name Dizzy Woosh comes from "the feeling we want people to feel after seeing a live performance of ours, you know, that really fun, party dancing music that after it you have to collect yourself. We want people to have that kind of feeling."

This Mars-based band that formed only three years ago plays an eclectic blend of alternative folk, rock, bluegrass, soul and zydeco

The group is celebrating the release of its second CD with a party at Willees Tavern, 11150 Babcock Blvd., Valencia, at 9:30 p.m. Saturday. An opening act will start at 9 p.m. Cover charge for the evening is $4.

Band members in addition to Turner are Johnny Lager, rhythm guitar-acoustic and vocals; Brad Arnold, percussion, harmonica and vocals; Dan Bischak, bass, banjitar and vocals; Eric Bowman, lead guitar-electric, and Mike Sheptak, drums.

The band's self-titled debut CD came out in early 2009 and now they've already put together a second disc.

"As soon as we finished that we were right back in there recording again," Turner said. "By the end of the first CD, we already had so much stuff we went right back in the studio."

All nine tracks on the CD "Everyday" are original. Copies are available through a link from the website, www.dizzywoosh.com.

And the guys already have material for a third CD. "The guys are already talking about 'when are we going back in the studio?' That's the great thing: Everyone's so excited about getting the stuff down and complete the whole project," Turner said.
