LOUIS — The St. Louis Blues now have a goalie who fits right into their youth movement, acquiring Jaroslav Halak fresh off his star-making playoff run for Montreal.The Blues picked up the 25-year-old Halak on Thursday for a pair of minor league forwards, former 2007 first-round pick Lars Eller and Ian Schultz.
NEWARK, N.J. — John MacLean was named the head coach of the New Jersey Devils on Thursday, replacing the retired Jacques Lemaire.
HANNASTOWN — Slippery Rock's Brett Rinker placed fifth with a two-round score of 154 at the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association Junior Championship at Hannastown Golf Club.Rinker shot a 79 in the first round and rallied with a 75 in the second round to place in the top five of the 44-golfer field.Tommy Leach of Pittsburgh won the event with a 5-over-par 145.
SLIPPERY ROCK — Former Wright State assistant Michael Bonelli has been named head men's soccer coach at Slippery Rock University.Bonelli inherits a Rock program coming off its best season in school history, an 18-4-1 record and PSAC title.Bonelli was an assistant coach at Wright State for five years. He was an assistant at Northwestern for two seasons, helping the Wildcats to a Top 10-ranking both years.
