CHAUTAUQUA, N.Y. — Butler graduate Antonio Baroffio, a member of the Butler County Community College golf team, finished 43rd out of 97 golfers in the 72-hole NJCAA Division III national tournament at Chautauqua Golf Club over the weekend.A freshman, Baroffio shot rounds of 78, 83, 80 and 80 at the event.
GROVE CITY - Grove City College has named Michelle Bruns as its sixth head women's basketball coach. She will also hold the rank of assistant professor of physical education and exercise science at the College.A 2005 graduate of Southwest Minnesota State University, Bruns comes to Grove City after working as an assistant master trainer/performance enhancement specialist at the Army Center for Enhanced Performance in West Point, N.Y. since January of 2009.Bruns served as the head assistant at Adams State (Colo.) College during the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons.At Adams State, she helped the squad triple its win total while also recording the program's first winning record in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference since 1992.Bruns replaces Sarah Harris, who stepped down at the end of the 2009-10 season after four years as head coach.
SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University Director of Athletics Paul Lueken announced Monday that 75 Rock student-athletes have been named as recipients of 2009-10 Division II ADA Academic Achievement Awards.The awards are sponsored by the Division II Athletic Directors Association and presented to student-athletes who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale and have completed a minimum of two years of college level work.The group of Rock student-athletes honored by the ADA includes three female student-athletes who currently own perfect 4.0 GPAs and 28 student-athletes at 3.75 or higher.
