Birds make FliteZone debuts
PITTSBURGH — FliteZone, the outdoor free-flight bird show at the National Aviary, debuts several species never before seen in free-flight at the Aviary
Two different shows are being offered this year. The raptor show features eagles, black kites, an auger buzzard and vultures. Several species will make their debut flights in this show, including a bald eagle, a Harris hawk and a southern ground hornbill.
A second show will feature species in the parrot family, as well as a few surprise appearances by other Aviary residents.
All of the birds in the shows have been trained by National Aviary staff using positive reinforcement techniques.
FliteZone show times are 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays and 2:30 p.m. Sundays.
The shows are included in the regular admission price, which is $12 for adults, $11 for senior citizens, $9.50 for children ages 2 to 12, and free for those younger than 2.
