Didn't they ever hear of a shut off valve? I'm no expert, but right when my water and gas come into my house, there is a shut off valve, plus a half dozen more scattered throughout the house.

Why wasn't a shut off valve installed right when the oil comes out of the ground, plus several other places? It's basic plumbing. The only reason I can think of is the valves are expensive and they didn't want to spend any of their trillions.

My heart is breaking for all the dying animals.
