ITHACA, N.Y. — Seneca Valley graduate Alyson Intihar, who recently completed a four-year women's softball career at Cornell University, was named Cornell Athlete of the Year.

Intihar also earned national Academic All-American and Cornell Woman of the Year honors. She was the toughest player to strike out in NCAA Division I softball this season.

JACKSON TWP — The Seneca Valley girls lacrosse team, which placed second in the WPIAL, will begin the state playoffs with a first-round game against Penn Manor at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Franklin Regional High School.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Slippery Rock University distance runner Jen Harpp placed sixth in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Division II track and Field Championships Thursday at Johnson C. Smith University.She broke her own school record with a time of 35 minutes, 6.17 seconds. Harpp earned her fourth career All-America honor as well.SRU's Amada Seigworth broke her own school record in the 400-meter hurdles, running a 59.27 in the preliminary round.
