PITTSBURGH — Pennsylvania's roads are getting worse.

A new report released today by the American Society of Civil Engineers says the state's roads get a D-minus grade. That's down from the D the engineers gave Pennsylvania's roads in a 2006 report.

The grade for the state's transit systems also went down, from D-plus to D-minus, while its bridges stayed at a C.

The ASCE says the state's bridges would be worse off if it weren't for stepped up efforts, including the use of $390 million in federal stimulus money for repairs.

But there could still be tough times ahead. Last month, the Federal Highway Administration rejected an Interstate 80 tolling plan that would have brought in nearly $500 million annually for transportation needs.

The 2010 Report Card for Pennsylvania's Infrastructure gave the state an overall grade of D-plus.

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police are trying to reconcile two stories given by three men arrested for trespassing at Heinz Field.Police say the out-of-state men told them they sneaked into the Pittsburgh Steelers' home stadium Sunday morning because one of them had lost a wallet.But one of the men, Neville Medhora of Austin, Texas, said the men had attended a wedding there the night before and weren't allowed on the football field. He said the men sneaked in the next morning so they go on the field to take some pictures.A Pittsburgh police spokeswoman said a police report does not reflect that the men told police anything about the wedding or taking pictures, only that one of them had lost a wallet.The men are due in city court Thursday.

ALLENTOWN — A Pennsylvania man is charged with driving under the influence after he allegedly ran over an officer's bike while fleeing a traffic stop.Police in Allentown charged Eric Verbin, 21, of Bath with DUI and fleeing from police in the traffic stop and pursuit that happened Thursday.Authorities said an officer on a bicycle had stopped Verbin when the suspect ran over the officer's bike, sparking a short pursuit that ended when Verbin crashed. The officer wasn't injured.Verbin is jailed on $20,000 bail. It is not clear if he has an attorney.
