SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University junior defender Briane Dishong was named second-team All-Atlantic Region in lacrosse.

She became the first SRU women's lacrosse player since 1989 to earn all-region recognition. Dishing finished the season leading the team with 44 ground balls and 27 caused turnovers.

CHICAGO — Dustin Byfuglien scored 12:24 into overtime and the Chicago Blackhawks beat the San Jose Sharks 3-2 Friday night to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the Western Conference final.The Blackhawks can earn their first trip to the Stanley Cup finals since 1992 with a victory Sunday at the United Center.

IRVING, Texas — Jordan Spieth did something Tiger Woods couldn't do.Spieth is a high school junior from Dallas who cut class this week to play in the Byron Nelson Championship, becoming the first prep to take on the pros in this event since Woods in 1993. He's handled his nerves and the TPC Four Seasons course quite nicely, shooting a 3-under 137 through two rounds Friday to become, at 16 years, nine months and 24 days, the sixth-youngest player to make the cut at a PGA Tour event."I'm in shock right now," he said. "I'm extremely pleased with how the week has gone so far. Hopefully I can make a run at the top of the leaderboard the next two days."
