"Beppe's Elephant," a world premiere by Zany Umbrella Circus of Pittsburgh, is just one of the shows being presented through Sunday as part of the Pittsburgh International Children's Festival.

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh International Children's Theater is presenting its 24th annual children's theater festival through Sunday.

Events take place in the green spaces surrounding Schenley Plaza and the University of Pittsburgh and at various indoor theaters in the Oakland area.

Featuring performing artists from around the world, the festival will have U.S. premieres and a world premiere by local Zany Umbrella Circus.

The schedule includes:

• "The Man Who Planted Trees, U.S. premiere tour by the Puppet State Theatre Company of Scotland.

• "Bathtime" by Théâtre Bouches Décousues of Quebec, Canada.

• "Aga-Boom," created by Dimitri Bogatirev, Russia/USA.

• "Droplets," U.S. premiere by La Società Della Civetta of Italy.

• "Beppe's Elephant," a world premiere by Zany Umbrella Circus of Pittsburgh, in a dream circus in which an Italian circus artist believes he can be the first to train an elephant to walk on a tight wire.

• Mapapa Acrobats from Kenya.

During the festival, free outdoor activities and performances will take place weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on the weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
