WEST MIDDLESEX — An 18-month-old baby had to be hospitalized after a gun accidentally discharged when he picked up the bag the revolver was in.

The child was shot Saturday afternoon in an apartment in West Middlesex. Southwest Mercer County Regional Police Chief Riley Smoot Jr. said Niko Duran was shot in the leg by a .22-caliber revolver that had been left inside a backpack.

The boy was transported to Akron Children's Hospital in Ohio. His condition was not available.

Police said the gun had been brought to the home by Sergio Jose Flores-Cabrera, 18, of Greenville. He faces charges, including recklessly endangering another person and tampering with evidence. He is being held pending arraignment.

HAWLEY — Students at a northeastern Pennsylvania high school cut their prom short after a bomb threat was called in to the resort where they had planned to dance the night away.The Western Wayne High School prom was disrupted Saturday night when someone called in a bomb threat to Ehrhardt's Waterfront Resort.State police said a male caller demanded all the boys leave the prom while the girls stayed inside or he'd detonate a bomb hidden in the banquet facility.The students were immediately evacuated from the restaurant in Hawley, about 100 miles north of Philadelphia.Police searched the premises and found nothing, but the students decided to end the party early because of the scare.State police believe the call was a prank but are continuing to investigate.

ENON VALLEY — Authorities charged a second suspect with kidnapping a man and beating him before dumping a dead deer on him.State police obtained an arrest warrant for Fred Cook Jr., 32, of Enon Valley, who remains at large. Already in custody is Jack Rodney Patterson, 25. Both men are charged with unlawful restraint, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and conspiracy.Police say three men kidnapped 18-year-old Vincent Lapaine in Enon Valley on Wednesday because they suspected him of having burglarized Patterson's home. Police say they drove him to a wooded area, tied him to a tree and beat and urinated on him before hurling a rotting deer carcass onto him.Lapaine was able to call police and was taken to a hospital for his injuries. He hasn't been charged with any crime.

BETHEL PARK — A man was ordered to stand trial in the death of a man shot outside an after-hours club during a bachelor party to celebrate his upcoming wedding.District Judge Robert Wyda on Friday ordered Garrett Sainiak, 27, of West Mifflin to trial on charges of homicide, attempted homicide, reckless endangerment and other counts in the death of James Hoover, 36.Investigators say Hoover and a group of friends were at a club in Glassport on April 25 when an argument between Hoover's brother and another man led to the shooting. Hoover was to be married the following weekend to his girlfriend of 11 years.
