Equipment malfunction responsible for power outages in city, Lyndora
An equipment malfunction caused more than 1,600 Allegheny Power customers to lose service this afternoon in the city and the Lyndora section of Butler Township. Power was restored to customers by 2:34 p.m.
A spokesman for Allegheny Power said there was a malfunction at the Diamond Street substation that caused a surge and disrupted the Hansen Avenue circuit. The cause of the malfunction is still being investigated.
