BEAVER — Former state Rep. Frank LaGrotta, who pleaded guilty to conflict-of-interest charges in 2008, was arrested after allegedly trying to get an altered prescription filled at a pharmacy.

LaGrotta had represented part of Butler County when he served in the Legislature.

Police in Beaver said they arrested LaGrotta, 51, Wednesday after he tried to get a prescription filled for the anti-anxiety drug Xanax.

Beaver police Detective Jim Degori said LaGrotta had a valid prescription for the drug, but the amount of pills had been changed. Police Chief Dan Madgar said LaGrotta will be charged by summons.

Following his release, LaGrotta said he didn't alter the prescription.

LaGrotta lost a re-election bid in 2006. He pleaded guilty in 2008 to putting two family members in state jobs with little or no work.

COATESVILLE — A 13-year-old boy is dead after police say he led officers on a chase in a stolen sport utility vehicle.Authorities said the boy was behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle when police tried to stop him Wednesday night in Coatesville, about 35 miles west of Philadelphia.The driver took off, prompting a pursuit that ended when the SUV rolled over. Police say the boy was ejected from the vehicle and pinned beneath it.
