I-79 completely reopens after fuel tanker fire
JACKSON TWP — All lanes of Interstate 79 in the area of the Route 68 exit ramp reopened following a morning fire that damaged a fuel tanker.
The rerouting of traffic onto Route 68 and Route 19 in the Harmony and Zelienople areas caused major backups for commuters until about noon.
The accident occurred shortly after 7 a.m.
Harmony Fire Chief Tim Sapienza credited the fast and efficient work of his volunteer firefighters for containing the fire and preventing the situation from getting worse.
