PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police say a man charged with crashing his car into the front steps of a synagogue told them he "just got a feeling sent by God to drive real fast for some reason."

Police say in a criminal complaint that 30-year-old Adam Disabato, of Pittsburgh, also asked police whether people who claim to be God "get off with an insanity plea" shortly after the crash at the Poale Zedeck synagogue about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The suspect remained in jail today and court records don't list an attorney for him.

Police say they don't view the incident as a hate crime.
