"Ailey II," part of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, is the performance scheduled for October as part of the new Performing Arts Series at Slippery Rock University.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Acrobatics, dance and music grace the 2010-11 Performing Arts Series at Slippery Rock University.

The season will open Sept. 10 and run through March 18, 2011, in Miller Auditorium. All shows start at 7:30 p.m. The season includes:

• The Golden Dragon Acrobats, Sept. 10, featuring artistry, costumes and skill.

• Ailey II, Oct. 29, a dance company that merges the spirit of the country's best young dance talent with the vision of today's emerging choreographers.

• "Scrooge in Concert," Dec. 2, presented by a cast of 30 in Victorian costumes with original music.

• "From Galway to Broadway," March 18, 2011, when Dublin-born tenor Ciarán Sheehan, star of "Phantom of the Opera," "Les Miserables?"and multiple PBS Irish specials, along with Gay Willis, star of "Showboat" and "Phantom of the Opera," present music from Ireland and Broadway.

The show will also feature the SRU Concert Choir and Irish harpist Eily O'Grady Patterson who has performed with the Boston Pops and on the BBC, London and Irish television.
