BLAIRSVILLE — Authorities said two young sisters who were sleeping over at a friend's house died in an early morning fire Sunday.

The Indiana County Coroner's office said Kirsten Tolley, 7, and her sister Katrina, 6, died from smoke inhalation in the fire at the Blairsville home.

According to the coroner's office, residents of the home, Travis and Erin Lee Jordan and their young daughter, escaped the flames and were evaluated at a hospital.

Blairsville police officer Robert Shaw said he and another officer tried to get in to rescue the girls through the front and back doors but were driven back by the flames.

State police are investigating the cause of the blaze, which destroyed the house and damaged several others.

MORRIS — A Texas man working on a drilling rig in Pennsylvania died after a high-pressure hose valve burst and hit him in the head.Authorities identified the man as 37-year-old Richard Tondreau of Crowley, Texas. The accident happened at the Helmerich & Payne drilling rig in Morris Township.A Pittsburgh newspaper reported today the hose also knocked 26-year-old James Thrasher of Calhoun, La., off a ladder. Thrasher was hospitalized at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.

GLASSPORT — A man is dead after being shot outside an after-hours club while celebrating his upcoming wedding.The Allegheny County medical examiner's office said James Hoover, 36, of Liberty was killed early Sunday morning outside a Sons of Italy Club in Glassport, about 10 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.Investigators said Hoover and a group of friends had been out for a bachelor party before an argument outside the club between Hoover's brother and another man led to the shooting.Hoover died at the scene, and his brother was treated for gunshot wounds to the arm and chest.Police charged 27-year-old Garrett Raymond Sainiak of West Mifflin in the shooting. He is being held without bail on homicide charges. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
