Edward

Edward, You ought to move to Arizona.....you would love it out here.

Teachers do not have unions.(they have associations)

Teachers are not allowed binding arbitration.

Teachers do not have tenure.

Teachers must accept the school boards offers.

Teachers are not allowed to strike.

What that has all resulted in is the following:

AZ has some of the lowest graduation rates in the country.

AZ has some of the lowest percentage of students going to 4 year colleges.

AZ ranks 50th in per pupil funding.

AZ has some of the lowest SAT/ACT scores in the country.

AZ teachers are paid substantially less than PA teachers.($11,000 less average per year)

AZ teachers have substantially fewer benefits than PA teachers.

AZ legislature has cut hundreds of millions of dollars from education payments to school districts last year and is doing the same this year.

Many districts have fired dozens of teachers to balance budgets resulting in classes of 35+ per class.

Special areas are going to be cut.

But, at least they can't strike out here. I wonder if there is a correlation between better paid teachers and better results and a stable educational system?

Could it be that PA teachers make more money than you and have better benefits than you and you simply resent that?

Teaching is a calling........but we aren't doing charity work........we're taking care of and educating your children.
