Challenge remains in Mind's I
Eleven years after reaching the finals in the Graffiti Rock Challenge, Butler-based band Mind's I is once again ready to take its melodic modern rock to the stage in another battle of the bands.
Band members are Jason Anthony, drums; Scott Herbst, bass and vocals; Jamie Hook, guitar and vocals, and Tom Panei, acoustic guitar and lead vocals.
The group will compete Saturday in The Rock Off at Club Diesel, 1601 E. Carson St., Pittsburgh.
With the band in the final stages of mixing its new CD, the timing of The Rock Off was particularly attractive, according to Herbst, the band's webmaster. He said the opportunity was just too good to pass up.
The show this weekend is round three of four, with the winner advancing to the finals on May 8.
The competition for Mind's I will be three other regional acts: Bloodshot Robot, Wicked Earth and 9Sundays.

The fifth album for Mind's I is scheduled to be available for purchase online and from the band at their concerts in a few weeks.
"Train Wreck" is the culmination of more than two years of work, and was recorded both in Butler and McKeesport.
The album will feature a selection of songs with former guitarist Greg Muiter as well as newer material with current guitarist Hook, who has been with the band since 2004.
Herbst says there is a lot of variety on this album. The first single from the album is a sentimental rocker called "In The Afternoon."
Later this year, the band will make its annual trek to Chicago to perform several shows over the July 4th weekend.
A New Year's Eve show is already scheduled in the Playmaker's Lounge at the Days Inn on Route 8.
