City resident burned in kitchen grease fire
A Butler resident was burned this morning when a pan of grease caught fire in the kitchen of a home in the 300 block of Mercer Street, authorities said.
Butler firefighters and police were called about 5:40 a.m. and found heavy smoke inside the building on the second floor.
An occupant might have fallen asleep while cooking, authorities said. A neighbor alerted the resident to the fire.
The resident, whose name was not immediately available, reportedly burned his hand and was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment. The severity of the injury was not available this morning.
The Butler Fire Department is investigating, but a report was not available by 8:30 a.m.
