AUGUSTA, Ga. — Nathan Smith, a member of St. Jude Golf Club, was scheduled to tee off at 11:52 a.m. today in a tie for 50th place at the Masters after shooting a 2-over 74 Thursday at Augusta National.

The Allison Park resident is one of 13 players tied for 50th, a group that includes Sergio Garcia, Retief Goosen and Padraig Harrington.

On the front nine, Smith carded four pars, three birdies and two bogeys for a 1-under 35, but he stumbled on the back nine, tallying five bogeys, including four in a row on holes 13 through 16, two birdies and two pars.

He finished the day eight strokes back of first-round leader Fred Couples.
