SRU SOFTBALL

SLIPPERY ROCK — Senior Jessica Kortz homered in the first game and tripled in the second game, but the Slippery Rock University women's softball team was swept by Shippensburg in a doubleheader Friday, losing 8-2 and 9-7.

Kortz now has blasted 10 home runs this season and 31 in her career. She is four homers shy of the all-time Rock record of 35 set by Stacey Rhoades.

Knoch graduate Kirsten Brant hit her third home run in the last six games and went 2-for-6 in the doubleheader with three RBI.

Butler grad Jenna Geibel had a double in the second game, as The Rock's rally from a 6-0 early deficit fell short.

SRU fell to 15-10 overall.
