Why are people missing the point here? This is clearly a Civil Rights issue. I believe Butler City Professionals need to realize that there are laws we ALL have to abide by. If the School District's Policies are not clearly written, they could be setting themself up for a lawsuit. I am amazed at any school district that allows violations to students rights within their own schools. If any educator violates a student's rights; that is a civil violation and could be subjecting that school district to a lawsuit. Parents are aware of this; so I ask again why would any educator do or say anything to or at any student that could be a "Civil Rights Violation". Harriet you are truly missing the point. What you said is true, however, the school district does not agree with you or it would be a stipulation in the student handbook. Obviously, teachers are permitted to tape hair and use abusive tactics in this area on our children. I am amazed once again that it took this long for some one to step forward. Blaming parents is notorious in this area, but teachers have a huge responsibility to uphold the rights of their students. I personally find that in many instances this district is too argumentative as opposed to maintaining professionalism with their own job and responsibilities. They are like fight cats instead of educators. Other areas truly do not handle their students in such a degrading manner. It is a Butler thing. But, there are civil rights laws and guess what, they apply to Butler City as well.
