The Slippery Rock University softball team totaled 15 runs on 15 hits to defeat Bowie State (Md.) 5-2 and 10-1 in a doubleheader Thursday.

Jessica Kortz tallied two home runs and three RBI in the opener, while Knoch graduate Kristen Brant had two hits and two RBI.

Shauna Walker pitched 6 2/3 innings while improving to 8-1.

In the nightcap, Butler graduate Jenna Geibel had a home run and four RBI, and Sheree Horvath had a homer and three RBI to lead The Rock (15-8).

Rock pitchers Lindsey Grace, Shaylee Ianno and Amy Erickson combined on a two-hitter.

An 8-0 run by No. 9-ranked Gannon allowed the squad to pull away from SRU in a 21-7 PSAC West victory Thursday.Amy Halls had three goals while Alexis Slutsky, Casey Quinn and Ariel Knox also scored goals for The Rock (4-5, 1-4)
